Why Get Rich? A Self-Conscious Query
I often talk to my friends about money and getting rich. The discussion goes on endlessly. Most people get into entrepreneurship or grab a high paying job only to get rich. We can chase money for the lifetime and yet not be satisfied with what we make. Some call is ‘Greed’, some call it ‘Need’ but mostly that’s not what it is. People loose focus. They get confused about what they want and start blindly believing their wants to be their needs. This is not what money was made for but I guess we have lost its definition. I was just going through a great book by Viktor Frankl named "Man’s Search for Meaning" which beautifully describes the meaning of ‘life’. It talks about a camp survivor and his reasons to live. Most of you reading this post might think "I’d really love to be rich" or "I want to be rich one day" and trust me, that is exactly what I want too BUT my point here is that 99% of the people I know ‘need‘ the same! There is a difference between people who want to be rich and people who will be rich. First, of course is the hard work, dedication and persuasion and second is to understand the reason. Getting rich is like a fill up station for your trip to the Disneyland but not the destination. It is a need to me, not my destination. Instead of working day and night focusing on getting richer, try focusing on what you desire for. Watch this video by Maren Donovan talking about the ‘whatever, whenever, whereever’ rule:
Ask yourself about your goals and define them if you haven’t. Focus on your desires, the "Disneyland" awaits you…
